Hobby Horse Competition - Capped at 100 places at our recent SOLD OUT event at Thomspon House last week!
10.30am- check-in and collect rider number and head to warm up jumps. Parents can relax - there is seating in the arena or you can bring your own comfier camping chairs to be close up to the action and enjoy cafe on site.
RING 1 -
1 - 30CM - Show jumping over a course of jumps with the poles set at this height. Clear round followed by timed jump off.
2 - 40CM - As above, poles set at height of 40cm
3 - 50CM PAIRS - each child needs to enter to run in relay, one after the other in a race around the jumping course.
4 - 60CM - Advanced jumping as classes 1 and 2.
5 - ACCUMULATOR - 30 seconds to race around assorted jumps / obstacles collecting points.
6 - GRAND NATIONAL - Groups of 4 children race around arena over wide low jumps to get medals!
RING 2
7 - BEST TURNED OUT - Plait or accessorise your hobby horse - optional costume / rider dress up.
8 - MOUNTED GAMES - Obstacle course - get round it on your pony as fast as possible!
9 - SCURRYING - 2 competitors are linked by holding a pole and race together through cones and round tight corners!
10 - BARREL RACING - race around 3 barrels in a clover shape. Timed.
11 - CHASE ME CHARLIE - One wide jump that gets increasingly higher each time the kids go over it. If they knock the pole down they get a second attemp.
12 - DRESSAGE - Choose a song, prepare a freestyle routine for about 2 minutes.Or ask for a test and we will give you one (email info@hobby-horses.co.uk)
Beginners and neurodiverse welcome.
Free to spectate. Book a spectator ticket for your child. (parents don’t require tickets) Bring camping chairs for comfort! Parents dress warm and bring layers for kids. It's all undercover but it may still be cool as open at each end.

Entry ticket - £5 per competitor (this helps cover our additional costs for booking a premium venue, which is an ‘away’ event for us so accommodation and travel costs for staff)
1 class - £10 (first timer only)
4 class - £35
6 class - £50
Unlimited classes and free loan pony - £75
Additional single classes (pre-book) - £10
Classes on day - £11
Loan Pony (new Crafty pony Hobby Horse_ - £5
If you choose to pay on the day instead of pre book you will not get the multi class discounts - it will be £11 per class.
Stalls selling Hobby Horses and Jumps and accessories (various brands) - pre-book to make sure they are available on the day - see products on hobby-horses.co.uk and to have the delivery cost deducted email info@hobby-horses.co.uk
