When we first opened our "doors" in January 2010 the first person to make an entry was Heidi Stewart, entering her daughter into two Open Dressage tests at Northallerton Equestrian Centre. Ten years later we have caught up with Heidi to find out what she has been up to and what she thinks has changed over the last ten years when it comes to entering events online.
Q. What was the first entry you made online with horsevents.co.uk for?
I am guessing my first entry was probably Spot on (jerry) with my daughter Jodie McGregor riding.
Q. Do you remember making that first online entry with horsevents.co.uk TEN years ago? At the time did it feel like a ground breaking experience?
I remember using the site 10 yrs ago and thinking how easy it was, no cheque, envelope, stamp! and very quick, great idea.
Q. What kind of events have you entered over the past ten years on horsevents.co.uk?
I have probably done most of my entries at NEC and REC, dressage, combined training and Unaffiliated One Day Events.
Q. A large percentage of your entries have been with one horse, tell us a little more about him and the activities you have enjoyed together.
Spot on (Jerry the appaloosa in the pictures) I bought as a 4 year old and he and my daughter Jodie went on to represent team GB on the junior event team in 2012 in Poland where the team got gold and they were 8th individually.
My own horse Cavalier Clooney (the coloured in pictures) I bought also as a 4 year old and we are now competing at BE100/105 hoping to do novice next season.
Q. Have you had an opportunity to look at the new site layout with its improved navigation, secure access, mobile friendly and new features?
Yes I am a user of the new site and find it easy to navigate on my phone as well as on my laptop.
Q. Do you have any suggestions on how horsevents could help improve its service over the coming ten years?
Is there an app for iPhone and android? I would like to get notifications of events that might interest me in my area and a reminder of closing dates if that is a possibility in the future?
Thank you to Heidi for taking the time to answer our Q&A and for supplying us with some great pictures. We will certainly take on board the ideas for the future as our service is constantly evolving.
Thank you to everyone that has used us over the last 10 years for Equine online entries. Happy New Year and looking forward to the next decade.
